About Faith Bebbington

Faith Bebbington studied sculpture at Winchester College of Art, set up her first studio in Liverpool in 1993. and now works nationally creating public artworks and exhibiting sculpture. She also devises themed and issue-based projects in partnership with schools, communities and organisations.

”My artistic practice initially stemmed from having cerebral palsy, a disability that has made me curious about how people and animals move. I explore this through figurative sculptures playing with balance, the process of falling, and capturing sequences of movement whether human or animal. In 2014 my artistic perspective shifted radically after surviving ‘terminal’ cancer! I stopped working with fibreglass resin as my main medium and focused on more sustainable, environmentally friendly ways of working, particularly re-using plastics by breaking the component parts down to then reconstruct them.”

Her practise centres on transforming household waste—cardboard, paper, plastics, and aluminium cans—into powerful sculpture. Faith is best known for her sustainable approach; her large-scale works utilise vast quantities of waste materials, with her biggest sculpture to date repurposing over 2,500 deconstructed plastic milk bottles.

Through her art, Faith intercepts materials destined for landfill and gives them new life as thought-provoking installations. Her practice embodies an authentic commitment to sustainability, with disability, gender, and social justice at its heart. Each work challenges viewers to reconsider their relationship with consumption and waste while celebrating the transformative power of art to address urgent environmental and social issues.

Faith is member of Project Vortex an international collective of artists, designers, and architects actively focusing on the global problem of plastic pollution in our work.

Award Winning!
