Balancing Act

A collection of small sculptures exploring subtle actions many people take for granted, such as being able to balance and simple coordinated movements such as walking.

“My sculptural practice stems from having cerebral palsy, a disability that is almost imperceptible to most people, but has a big impact on my daily life. As a child wearing calipers, having my leg in plaster for months, wearing special shoes and years of visiting doctors were experiences that made me particularly conscious of my own and other people’s physical movements.”

The work formed a city wide sculpture trail shown as part of Dadafest International, Liverpool from 17 Nov - 3 Dec 2016. The title piece 'Balancing Act' also features in the Shape Open 2019, 6-19th Sept at Nunnery Gallery, London.
