Creative Connections

The Creative Connections project funded by Liverpool Learning Partnership aims to evaluate how engaging with the arts can effect pupil attendance.  I was invited to work with two schools - St Michaels Catholic Primary School and Pinehurst Primary School their pupils aged 7-11years. The There will be a report summarising the research and impact of this project approach soon.

"Pet Dogs" with St Michaels Catholic Primary School
After visiting my studio the children (a mixed group of year 3 - Year 5 pupils) from St Michaels' were inspired to make sculptures of dogs based loosely on their own pets. Each year 3 - 6 child made their own dog.

“Hand Tree” with Pinehurst Primary School
Did a lovely piece of work with children at Pinehurst Primary School. Working with a small group of Year 3 pupils and their teachers they decided to create a pine tree to reference the school name. They used cardboard, wire to make lots of hands then decorate and personalise them using Posca pens.
The children worked intensively in a really focussed way. In the morning they worked in silence for a couple of hours by choice!
