Polar Bear
POLAR BEAR is based on an adult male which is a huge 4 metres tall when standing upright! His thick, fur coat was hand produced by Faith and her team, re-using over 2500 deconstructed plastic milk bottles.
POLAR BEAR was commissioned by WasteCare (a national waste management company specialising in hazardous and challenging waste materials) as a centrepiece for their “Art of Recycling” stand at RWM - the UK's largest Recycling, Resource & Waste Management Event at Birmingham NEC on 22-23 September 2021.
Global warming is already having a drastic impact on the Polar bears’ environment. Unable to forage for seals on pack ice, bears are foraging for scrap food in human settlements. With world populations falling from an estimated 20-25,000, the Polar Bear is now considered vulnerable and is likely to be endangered if not extinct in the wild within the next 20 years. . The Polar Bear lives in one of the remotest parts of the planet, yet its very survival is at risk due to human activity.
