Wonderful Wildflowers
Knowsley Flower Show Committee’s 'Wonderful Wildflowers' heritage project funded by Knowsley Heritage Grant facilitated by One Knowsley and supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund, to highlight Court Hey Park’s rich floral heritage as the former location of the National Wildflower Centre and home of the Knowsley Flower Show.
With support from Culture Knowsley Faith led four half-day workshops with schools and local community groups prior to the Knowsley Flower Show, creating a range of wildflowers from recyclable materials. Local people collected hundreds of discarded plastic carrier bags, using recycled eco tape to construct them. If you look carefully there are fragements of brand logos on some of the petals.
Knowsley Flower Show
The project raised awareness of the importance of increasing biodiversity through the planting of pollinator flowers and includes the story of wildflowers, linking into Knowsley’s Borough of Culture year in 2022 theme of storytelling. The fantastic ‘meadow’ of over 60 giant wildflowers created by the project was installed at the Knowsley Flower Show 2022 for families to explore and enjoy.
